At AB Precision Grinding, quality has always been at the core of what we do - but in today’s fast-evolving industrial landscape, doing excellent work isn’t enough. It needs to be verifiable, repeatable, and aligned with the highest standards in the industries we serve. That’s why we’re proud to share that, after achieving ISO 9001:2015 certification in 2023, we are now actively working toward full AS9100 certification by the end of 2025.

This step represents more than a new plaque on the wall. It’s a strategic move that reflects our commitment to continuous improvement, our readiness to support aerospace and defense partners, and our investment in long-term quality, compliance, and customer trust.

What Is AS9100, and Why Does It Matter?

AS9100 is the internationally recognized quality management standard for the aerospace and defense industries. It builds on the foundation of ISO 9001 - with all of the same quality principles - but adds requirements specific to high-risk and highly regulated environments.

These include:

  • Product safety protocols

  • Risk-based thinking and configuration management

  • Enhanced traceability and documentation

  • Control of counterfeit parts

  • Tighter oversight of suppliers and subcontractors

AS9100 is often a minimum requirement to quote or do business with Tier 1 aerospace companies, defense contractors, and even commercial aviation clients.

Building on Our ISO Foundation

In 2023, we achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification, formalizing many of the systems and processes we’ve used for years. That certification helped us streamline internal operations, improve documentation, and ensure consistent, measurable quality across every job.

Now, the transition to AS9100 is the next logical step - and we’re on track to complete it by the end of the year.

Our efforts include:

  • Enhancing our risk management processes

  • Strengthening nonconformance tracking and corrective action

  • Updating our internal audit programs

  • Adding more structured supplier evaluation and traceability

  • Improving training and competency tracking across the organization

We’re also incorporating feedback loops between engineering, production, and customer service to improve accountability at every level.

What This Means for Our Customers

Whether or not your organization requires AS9100, working with a certified supplier brings real advantages:

  • Tighter process controls lead to more consistent results

  • Improved documentation helps with traceability and accountability

  • Fewer mistakes, reworks, and delays mean better reliability

  • It shows you’re working with a company that’s serious about quality, not just talking about it

If you do work in aerospace, defense, or other high-compliance industries, our certification ensures that we meet your internal and external audit requirements - and can confidently support even your most demanding projects.

The Road Ahead

Our path to AS9100 is just one part of our broader vision: to build a smarter, stronger AB Precision Grinding that’s ready for the next generation of manufacturing.

From upgraded equipment and lifting capacity to cybersecurity compliance and digital systems, we’re investing in the future so we can continue delivering precision, consistency, and trust for years to come.
